ABOUT ME

Career

Hello! My name is Amy Grecol and I have been a passionate gamer my entire life. From classics on Nintendo DS to games of the year on the Playstation 5, I am drawn to media that have compelling storytelling, amazing world-building, and impactful character development. It was games like Undertale and The Witcher III that solidified my desire to write stories for a living and potentially change lives. Therefore, I have never stopped creating, and it is what I love most about the game industry. The ability to bring the craziest ideas to life for people all around the world to experience.

I graduated from Kent State University, Ohio as a game development major where I learned crucial skills in every aspect of the pipeline. It is also how I made most of my connections and got internships at local companies for real world game industry experience. I can wear many hats with my skill set, but I truly excel in narrative design and writing. I have written scripts for games, movies and animation projects, entire D&D campaigns and one-shots, game design documents, character biographies and barks, and short stories.

Some games that I take inspiration from when writing are:

  • Undertale
  • Night in the Woods
  • Red Dead Redemption II
  • The Witcher III
  • Baldur’s Gate 3
  • And so many more!

Hobbies

Outside of playing video games and creating things on my computer, I spend my free time playing TTRPGs such as Dungeons and Dragons and Vampire the Masquerade, studying the night sky with my telescope, and planning my next cosplays!

Right now I am playing an elderly Goblin Hellspawn Witch named Olga during my Sunday D&D sessions and she’s a fire that can’t be contained. From her raging ADHD to her passion for frogs and arson, she has a god complex and believes she is going to outlive everyone she knows to become the oldest living Goblin in history. She’s my longest-running character, so she’s definitely living up to her name! Her secret to eternal life: worms.

I am a huge astronomy nerd, so I never stop looking up at the night sky every chance I get. With my Astrozap Super 5 telescope, I love looking at the moon, Saturn, star clusters, and any other celestial objects I can find. My favorite celestial objects are black holes, but unfortunately, they can’t be captured with just my telescope. I’ll leave that to NASA.

Finally, cosplay is my most ambitious hobby. Everytime there is a convention nearby or in a surrounding state, I’ll plan months in advance to make lore-accurate outfits and props of my favorite characters. My most recent cosplay was a collaboration with my partner, dressing as Bill Cipher and Ford Pines from Gravity Falls. Some of my past favorites have been Lady Dimitrescu, Chell from Portal with a 3D printed portal gun, and Geralt from the Witcher III with his two swords and handmade armor.
